I'm a new Iditarod fan after watching it on TV last fall. What's up with Aliy's sled pulling another sled? Is this the "Ididarider" I've read a lot about?

We are from Boulder CO and my second grade class is following the Iditarod. I am on Aliy's team and so is my friend Annie. We want you and Aliey to know we are rooting for her and her dogs! Go Aliey's team!!!!

Hi Pam from Texas-
The mushers only use the 2nd sled during the ceremonial start, the dogs get so excited and want to GO!! The 2nd sled and rider just slow things down to a managable pace. The Iditarider is actually sitting in the basket of the front sled--wouldn't that be fun!!
