Yukon Quest Black Team Resting at Home

Allen is on the couch and the dogs are in the basement. This afternoon is one of rest and relaxation.

MALIBU

DINGLE & MEG

QUITO & BEEMER

The Black Team came in to the Yukon Quest finish line with Dingle & Quito in lead, Meg & Olivia, Nacho & Rose, Biscuit & Malibu and Boondocks in the rear. Chica was riding in the sled bag for the last hour. Allen said she really got a belly ache the last few hours so he thought giving her a ride would be best.

The team was healthy and happy for much of the race. They did not eat as well as expected at Chena Hot Springs Checkpoint and several dogs got belly aches on the last run to the finish line. We think perhaps they picked up a virus right near the end.

The dogs dropped from the race were: Scout in Dawson, Rambler in Slavens, Beemer in Circle and Viper in Central. Scout looks good and has been outside playing in the pen. His shoulder muscle seems to have loosened up. Rambler is sassy. He has stayed inside the house for several days - getting into much trouble. His shoulder muscle seems to have loosened up, but we'll have to watch it. Beemer has an infected front tooth that needs medical care. We think this affected his over all attitude (a tooth ache at 50 below would do that to ANYONE!) Viper was simply tired and he has rested inside on a dog bed since he left the team. He'll need to gain some weight and simply rest.

So, all in all, we are very happy with the SP Kennel Black Team!
